Voluntary contributions are not so voluntary anymore. If as a true dub I pledge $100 and then loose my job, the society still thinks I owe them $1200 that year. More local needs on money, I think I prefer a collection plate.

Kirtland & Cedar Point Ohio. Both significant places in 2 different religions.
by joe134cd insince leaving the jws for some reason i have done a lot of research on the mormon faith as well.
i guess it's probably because i can see so many parallels between the 2 religions.
i just thought it was uncanny how the 2 religions both had significant events in their history happen in locations that are with in 1.5 hour drive from each other.

Cedar Point is not a city/town in Ohio, it is a theme park...a theme park! -

Cart Witnessing - Thrilling! Productive! Epic! Er.....um, well, not so much.....
by sir82 intalked with a pioneer recently, she was recounting her first experience with cart witnessing.. she brought the subject up, was going on & on & on & on about how wonderful the experience was, and how great, and how she enjoyed it so much, and it was so wonderful, and oh jehovah's blessing, and on and on and on...... a few questions to her revealed what really happened:.
-- a jw who owns a small restaurant in a strip mall allows jws to set up their cart outside his restaurant.
-- the restaurant is tucked pretty far out of the way, not prominent at all.

Here is the form that needs to be completed and approved before you can be one of the 135000 cart guards:

The WTBTS "almost" admits the truth.....
by DATA-DOG induring the wt session, the org admits that the actions of eldubs can cause an eventual shortage of "qualified " brothers, and it has.
they speak of a lack of teaching as the cause.
in reality, it's the legalism and control issues within the org itself that have caused a shortage of men who are willing to reach out.

How you describe Johnny is verbatim to me while I was in...
I had months of 20 hours, but with a busy work schedule and kids, also had months of 7-8 hours. Finally, when I managed to do 6 straight months of 10 hours or more, they commented that I with my job travel during the week, that I sometimes skipped weekday meetings, so was not recommendable.
Meanwhile two elders sons, who most likely forged their FS reports were appointed "elders" while still wet behind the ears.
So glad I'm out.

Good question Blondie - I don't know.
Did a quick check and found this video of the 1958 convention.

Interesting if you see the baptismal candidates here, they all appear to be adults. That cannot be said any longer.

Ironic that at a convention with the theme "Imitate the Christ" parents are pressured to baptize their children at HALF the age Jesus was when he was baptized. Let's review: it's a CULT.
On a positive note, at this huge convention, with all bigwigs from the GB, there were only 5 baptized (okay, still 5 too many). Compare the to the 1958 DC in The same state (NY) when 7136 were baptized!
Kids are smart. They do go online behind their parents back and Google on JWs and try to avoid baptism. They have seen too much shunning around them when baptized kids leave the org and seen that those not baptized generally can retain some contact with their families.
Though the tower will not fall anytime soon, the cracks are becoming visible. -

Does the GB also do Fieldservice?
by 1tMakesNoSence inthe wt study of may stated that no one is exempt from doing fieldservice.does that mean the gb also does fieldservice?and dont give me any if that "no they only give us insrtuction bullshit" because that would mean not everything applies to everyone, and thats never the case in the jw organisation!

I am sure they make their token H2H hours...but most time will be counting time for their talks, not H2H. -

Our hall is asking for money...
by thedepressedsoul ini guess the branch isn't happy with the amount being sent each month since we are way lower than our loan amount.
we now have to another financial survey to see the max amount that can be given.
it is "encouraged" for all to be in attendance and give much forethought and consideration to the amount you can donate each month.
